MADC in action Friday at The Meadowlands

East Rutherford, NJ — With windy and fall-like temperatures on Friday (March 29) night in north Jersey, three MADC races were on the card.  The results were generous to all the backers in the first two legs that came with 7-1 winners followed by a favorite in the last event.

In the first, it was longshots that attempted to go gate to wire but after some fast early fractions in these conditions, it set up for the closers to come from way back to gain the top three spots.  It was old-timers day as a pair of 15-year-olds rounded out for a nice exacta. It was So Take That (Joe Lee) who picked up the catch drive and was a length better at the finish from another closer Atta Boy Dan (Anthony Verruso) while Harry Hanover (James Slendorn) moved up a spot after a DQ of the third place finisher Terra Haute(Newton “Yogi” Sheridan).   The mile went in 1:56.3 for this group with the last quarter in :32.2 over the blustery course.  The 15-year-old is owned and trained by Alex Goldin out of NJ.

The fourth race found the top two leavers from their outside posts so the old give and go just after the quarter then a retake, which is not to common on the circuit.  This proved to be the winning strategy for Thndrfrmthethron N(Neil Glasser) who bottomed out the field with a swift :27 third stanza and went on to win by seven lengths.  Favorite, Camlachie Chrome (Cote Keim) hung on for second over Tony Beltrami aboard Rockabilly Charm.  The Mike went in 1:55.4.   The 10-year-old gelding is also owned by Glasser himself out of NJ and is trained by Mike Watson.

In the eighth and final MADC event, it was the two horses in the outer flow who gained the top spots.  It was a perfect cover trip for Warrawee Yankee (Mark Silva) who was able to get up just in time by a neck advantage over Whammer Jammer (James Slendorn).  Paduka N (Tony Beltrami) rounded out the trifecta.  The mike went in 1:55.  The 4-year old gelding is owned and trained by Silva himself, out of New Jersey.

The MADC will be back tomorrow night for one event on the card with the first post scheduled for 6:20 p.m.
