Dover, DE — Just like two prize fighters, Majorca N and Incaseyoudidntknow have traded punches throughout the racing season. In Wednesday’s (Nov. 6) $25,000 Mares Open Pace at Bally’s Dover, Majorca N held off sustained pressure from her arch rival to earn her eighth win of the year.
Corey Callahan blasted Majorca N off the wings of the starting gate and aggressively brushed to the top. Jim Morand attempted a quarter-move with 1-5 favorite Incaseyoudidntknow but eased back to the pylons in third as Majorca N scorched a :26.1 quarter before pulling the half back to :55.3.
Incaseyoudidntknow fired up the engines and rushed hard up the backstretch, drawing alongside of her nemesis Majorca N past three-quarters in 1:23. In the lane, Majorca N proved too powerful and delivered the knockout punch, winning by a measured length in 1:51.
Incaseyoudidntknow was a gallant second; Melody Hanover (driven by Ross Wolfenden) picked up the show spot.
Majorca N, a daughter of Art Major, is owned by her trainer, Dylan Davis, in partnership with Michael Casalino Jr. She paid $8.20 to win.
Corey Callahan drove five winners on the card; Les Givens secured three training wins.
The Thursday (Nov. 7) card features the Matron Stakes for 3-year-olds and a $1,656.55 pentafecta carryover.
Bally’s Dover hosts live harness racing on a Monday-through-Thursday schedule; first post is 4:30 p.m.
