Baltic, OH – Ohio breeder Marvin Raber would like to thank all of his clients and many friends for their years of dedication, as he is officially retiring on Jan. 1, 2027.
“Many of my clients have become good friends over the years, and I will truly miss working with them and their horses,” Raber said. “My wife and I have a few things on our bucket list that we would like to do in retirement, and things at the farm will remain the same, as we transition into this new era of our lives.”
After 46 years, Raber and his wife Dorothy, who will continue to live on the Baltic, Ohio property, have turned their operation over to Crystal Springs Farm, which is less than a mile from the Raber’s home.
“Clients have the option to stay here, as nothing will really change for their horses,” Raber, 66, explained. “I’ve been with this business for almost five decades, and it’s been good for me and Dorothy, and I’ve made some really good friends, and enjoyed it. But I’m ready to do something else and not have a schedule.
“Crystal Springs wanted to expand and they needed more pasture, and they will keep the stallions that they currently have at their place, and this facility will be for the broodmares and foals. They will run the farm the same way I did.”
Raber has stood a variety of stallions over the years, including Full Count (who passed away in 2025) and The Panderosa, who is now retired at the age of 30. Raber is keeping a few mares of his own and the stallion Black Magic, so he will not be disappearing completely from the world of Standardbreds.
“It’s important to give credit to our many clients who have been so loyal to us for so many years, and we send our heartfelt thanks out to them as we move forward on this new path,” Raber concluded.
