The Maryland Racing Commission at its August 12 meeting granted a request from Rosecroft Raceway for a 27-day fall meet that begins September 14.
As usual, live racing will be held Monday and Thursday evenings, with a few exceptions.
The Maryland Showcase, which will feature all eight Maryland Sire Stakes finals for 2-year-old and 3-year-old trotters and pacers, is slated for Sunday, October 11. It has been many years since all of the finals were held on the same program.
The Potomac Pace, which attracts some of the top open pacers each year, is scheduled for Sunday, November 1.
Ocean Downs Casino general manager Bobbi Jones provided the MRC with an update on the current race meet that ends September 7. On-track pari-mutuel handle on the live product is up 5.5%, while export handle is up 15%. Through early August, total handle on Ocean Downs racing is up more than $1 million compared with 2025 figures.
The track has various promotions frequently throughout the meet, which helps it attract on-track crowds estimated at 800 to 1,500. Many of the attendees are vacationers, Jones said.
“It’s the first place I’ve worked that has good crossover between the live racing and the casino,” Jones said.
