East Rutherford, NJ – The Meadowlands would like to remind potential buyers at the upcoming commercial yearling sales of the new Stallion Early Closer Participation program for foals of 2024.
This stallion payment provides their foals of 2024 the opportunity to gain the option of nominating to Meadowlands Early Closers for the life of the horse by making the one-time $400 Meadowlands Early Closer Participation payment. Nomination and sustaining payments for Meadowlands 2026 Early Closers on the foals of 2024 will not begin until March 15, 2026.
The most up to date list of stallions whose 2024 foals are eligible to nominated to Meadowlands 2026 Early Closing events and other pertinent information may be found on The Meadowlands website.
Two stallions have been added to the original list in response to inquiries by horsepersons who bred to them in 2023 and brought to our attention that these horses were not included. Cantab Hall, despite his January 2023 death, was bred to a few mares in both 2023 and 2024 via frozen semen. Those foals will be considered eligible. Alrajah One IT bred a short book in New Jersey while he was being trained back to race then was shipped to Italy and will be considered a foreign stallion thus his 2024 foals will be considered eligible.
The list of foreign stallions exempt from the Stallion Early Closer Participation payment with yearlings consigned to the upcoming sales have been added to the list of stallions whose progeny are eligible for nomination to Meadowlands on the web.
As promised, 50% of the estimated revenue generated by both the stallion and the Feb. 15 payments on the foals of 2024 will be used to increase the money added to Meadowlands marquee Stakes/Early Closers listed below. These are the races that enhance the career of any horse able to win and are undeniably important as “Stallion Makers” on the resume of horses that potentially have a future in the breeding shed.
