Washington, PA – Here is this week’s Meadows Monday Memo.

THIS WEEK’S SCHEDULE

Hollywood Casino at The Meadows will be racing this Wednesday (June 7) and Thursday (June 8) afternoons at 12:45 p.m. Friday (June 9) evening’s card will begin at 5:10 p.m., and we’ll have a special 11:30 a.m., post time on Saturday (June 10), which is Belmont Day.

11 RACES ON TAP FOR FRESHMEN

A total of 14 qualifying races are scheduled for Tuesday morning (June 6), with 11 of those set aside for 2-year-old trotters and pacers. A total of 69 freshmen are slated to try to qualify. Post time for the first race will be 10:30 a.m, and the races will be shown live on the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association’s Facebook page. Among the group of freshmen are two $100,000 yearlings: What An Ocean View (Downbytheseaside, $120,000), drawn into race five, and Rip Tide (Downbytheseaside, $100,000), in race nine. Both are in the Ron Burke Stable.

JUJUBEE TO QUALIFY AGAIN

Trotting star Jujubee will also qualify on Tuesday, leaving from post seven in the third race. The now 5-year-old son of Creatine qualified a winner in 1:56 a week ago. Trainer Greg Wright Jr drove last Tuesday, but has listed Mike Wilder this week.

TOP DRIVERS/TRAINERS FOR THE WEEK

Driver Ronnie Wrenn had the hot hand last week at The Meadows, posting 12 wins in 24 starts, including six winning drives on Saturday (June 3). He has now won 27.5% of his Meadows drives this season (120 for 436). Trainer Ron Burke became the first local trainer this season to reach 100 wins, with six for the week to bring his season total to 101. Dirk Simpson added four wins for the week, while Brandon Presto recorded three. Presto moved into the #3 spot for the season with 37 wins. Trainer Dean Collins has moved into the top 10, with 18 wins. The veteran conditioner sent out five horses from his barn last week, recording two wins and a third.
