Meadows Monday Memo

Washington, PA — Here is this week’s Meadows Monday Memo.

REGULAR SCHEDULE THIS WEEK

Hollywood Casino at The Meadows returns to its regular summer racing schedule this week. Action will take place at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, 5:10 p.m. Friday, and 12:45 p.m. Saturday.

BURKE PUTS PERFECT RECORD ON THE LINE

In Wednesday’s fourth race, trainer Ron Burke will be driving a first-time starter, 3-year-old trotter Crazy Holiday, from post two. He qualified the Crazy Wow filly on Aug. 22 in 2:01. It was her first time in a qualifying race. For Burke, who has started 635 horses as a trainer at The Meadows this year, it will be just his second drive of the year. He has a perfect record, as he drove Rose Run Yorick to a win back in March, which was his first victory in the bike in seven years.

DUTCH TROTTER NOW RACING AT THE MEADOWS

When Lincoln Transsr NL made his first local start at The Meadows on Aug. 10, his name garnered some attention. It’s not known whether in the 60-year history of The Meadows, a horse with the “NL” designation has ever raced at the track. The Netherlands-bred gelding originally shipped to Canada to race less than a year ago, and was recently acquired by local owner Kimberly Martino. Rich Perfido is now conditioning the 5-year-old, who will compete in Thursday’s sixth race.

TWADDLE MOVES INTO TOP-5

Trainer Tim Twaddle continues to have one of the hottest barns at The Meadows. He has now moved into a tie for fifth place in wins, with 43. Ron Burke continues to lead the way with 177 wins, followed by Dirk Simpson (76). Scott Betts and Brandon Presto are tied for third with 66 wins each, and Twaddle is now tied with Randy Bendis for fifth.
