Washington, PA — Here is this week’s Meadows Monday Memo.
NO CHANGES TO DECEMBER SCHEDULE
Hollywood Casino at The Meadows will race three days this week, Wednesday through Friday, at 12:45 p.m. That schedule will remain constant through the rest of the calendar year.
2024 SCHEDULE APPROVED
The Meadows 2024 racing schedule has been approved by the Pennsylvania Horse Racing Commission. It will feature 170 dates, the same as 2023. The current three-day schedule, Wednesday through Friday afternoons, will continue through March.
NINE OPEN TROTTERS FACE STARTER ON WEDNESDAY
The feature on Wednesday will include a full field of nine Open level trotters going for a purse of $21,200. The automated morning line system has installed Emerald’s Legacy as the 2-1 choice, after an 8-plus length win in a conditioned race last time in 1:53.1. Dave Palone will drive for trainer Scott Betts.
TROTTER PUTS WIN STREAK ON THE LINE THURSDAY
Muscle Jack, a 5-year-old Muscle Mass gelding, has won seven straight, five at The Meadows and two at Pocono. He will put his seven-race winning streak on the line on Thursday in race eight, a claiming handicap trot. Trained by Mark Goldberg for the Rags To Riches Stable, Muscle Jack has won eight of 11 starts in 2023 after missing much of the early part of the year. Jeremy Indof, who drove him to last week’s victory, will be in the bike on Thursday.
