Meadows Monday Memo

Washington, PA — Here is this week’s Meadows Monday Memo.

SERIES FINALS SET FOR THIS WEEK
The first round of Spring Series events will conclude this week at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows. Wednesday will be the final of the Donna Dunn Memorial Series, carded as the 10th race on the 13-race card. Paper Heart, a 3-year-old Heston Blue Chip filly, has been installed as the 2-1 morning line favorite from post one for trainer Jason Shaw and driver Dave Palone. There will be one series final on Thursday and two on Friday, posts have yet to be drawn.

PALONE, WRENN STILL TIED
Drivers Dave Palone and Ronnie Wrenn Jr. entered last week tied in wins, and ended the week the same way. Both drivers won nine races over three cards. Aaron Merriman won six races last week, to remain in third place. Wrenn and Palone each have 74 wins, while Merriman has 66. Merriman (336), Palone (306) and Jeremy Indof (301) are the most active drivers in terms of number of starts in 2024 at The Meadows.

TUESDAY QUALIFIERS
A total of seven qualifying races will take place at The Meadows on Tuesday morning, as many horses that took the winter off are returning to action for the season. Among this week’s entrants is Flite Craft, an Adios pacer in 2023 for the Norm Parker Stable. Qualifying races are shown live on the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association Facebook page each Tuesday at 11 a.m., and archived at www.youtube.com/themsoa.
