THREE DAY SCHEDULE THIS WEEK
The Meadows is now into its fall racing schedule, with three days of racing per week. This week, post time will be 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
KEYSTONE CLASSICS CONTINUE THIS WEEK
Wednesday’s (Oct. 2) card will feature two $31,000+ divisions of the Keystone Classic for 2-year-ole filly trotters. Locally based filly Blueberry, a winner of three aces and over $115,000 this season, has been installed as the 8-5 morning line favorite for the first division. Doug Snyder trains the Father Patrick filly for owner Geraldine Poerio. Ronnie Wrenn will drive. Princess Jackie, who has banked over $164,000 this year for owner/trainer DR Ackerman, is the 3-2 early choice in the second division. Jim Marohn Jr will make his first Meadows drive of the season. The Keystone Classics are races six and eight on the Wednesday card.
TROTTERS FEATURED IN THURSDAY OPENER
Thursday’s (Oct. 3) first race is the $19,200 Open Trot. Benjamin Hanover moves up to the Open level this week after a 1:51.3 victory in his most recent start. The mile was tied for the second fastest in track history for trotters and was a record for 4-year-old geldings. Sarah Andrews trains the son of Sebastian K. Assigned the outside post in the field of six is Guido Di, a 5-year-old Wishing Stone gelding, trained by Steve Schoeffel. The trotter has won eight of 19 this year.
THURSDAY STAKES
Thursday’s card will also feature two divisions of the Keystone Classic for freshman filly pacers. Each will go for more than $41,000. Blessed Hanover, out of the Ron Burke Stable, is the leading money winner in the first division, at $130,397 with five wins in 8 starts. Another Burke trainee, Always Ana Hanover, leads the second division in earnings at $67,000+. The Keystone Classics are races six and eight on the Thursday program.
