Meadows Monday Memo

Washington, PA — Here is this week’s Meadows Monday Memo.

RACING SCHEDULE
We remain in our winter three-day-per-week racing schedule, Wednesday through Friday afternoons at 12:45 p.m. This schedule will remain in place through the end of March.

EXOTICS PAYING WELL
Last week’s race cards at The Meadows resulted in solid payoffs in the exotic wagers. In 39 races over three days, exactas paid an average of $62.87 for a $2 ticket. The 20-cent Superfecta, over the same 39-race period, resulted in an average payoff of $210.26.

$10,000 PICK-4 GUARANTEED POOL ON WEDNESDAY
The Pick-4 has also paid well in recent weeks at The Meadows. Offered three times daily, the 50-cent Pick-4 averaged payoffs of $176.06 over the past three cards, but there were no winners in the final Pick-4 of the Friday card. That resulted in a carryover of more than $2,500. The Meadows, in conjunction with the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association and the USTA’s Strategic Wagering Program, will guarantee the pool to $10,000 for the initial Pick-4 on Wednesday (Feb. 22), which begins in race one. Free programs, as always, are available at meadowsharnessracing.com, courtesy of the MSOA.

BIG DAY FOR PALONE
Throughout the Wednesday and Thursday cards at The Meadows, drivers Ronnie Wrenn Jr. and Dave Palone traded the lead for most wins at the track in 2023. However, on Friday afternoon, Palone won five consecutive races (three-seven), then added wins in races nine, 10 and 12 to end the day with eight wins, giving him 55 for the season and a six-win lead over Wrenn (49).
