Washington, PA – Here is this week’s Meadows Monday Memo:
RETURN TO FALL SCHEDULE
Hollywood Casino at The Meadows returns to its regular fall schedule this week, with racing on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons at 12:45pm. This schedule will be in effect for the remainder of October.
THREE QUALIFIERS SET FOR TUESDAY
Tomorrow morning (Oct. 13), three qualifying races will take place at The Meadows. They can be watched live on the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association’s Facebook page, and are archived at youtube.com/themsoa.
POST POSITION REPORT
More than three-quarters of the way through the season, post position 5 is still the “place to be” at The Meadows. Through nearly 1700 races, post 5 has produced the most winners in 2026, with 318 (18.9%). Post 5 has been the top spot for a majority of the past 20 years, including a 20% winning percentage in 2025. As per the norm, post 4 produces the second highest percentage of winners, currently 15.2% this season, but down from nearly 17% in 2025. The biggest jump this year is the percentage of winners leaving from post 3. In 2025, post 3 was fifth in the standings at 13%. In 2026, post 3 has produced 252 winners, or 15%. The other significant year-to-year change is with the outside post, #9. In 2025, only 4.9% of horses starting from the outside post managed to make it to the winners circle: 31 out of 638 starters. This season, that number has jumped to 7.2%, with 33 winners from 457 starts.
THURSDAY FEATURE
Thursday afternoon’s card at The Meadows will feature the $19,000 Open Trot. Big Shoes returns after his win in the class last week for the Burke Stable. He has drawn post 3 in the six-horse field. The top-money winner in the field is Battle Hill, out of the Matt Burkholder barn. Battle Hill returns after finishing 4th in the $100,000 Aged Sire Stake event at Northfield Park last week. His season earnings are now more than $165,000. The Open trot is listed as Race #2 on Thursday’s (Oct. 15) 13-race card.
