Michael Wayne Arnold, 76, dies

Columbus, OH — Michael Wayne Arnold, 76, of Keosauqua, Iowa, died March 16, 2024, surrounded by family and friends.

Mr. Arnold was born on Oct. 21, 1947.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jill; daughters, Hazel “Sis” (Olin Harness) and Rebecca (Becky); son, Michael (Valerie Pitzer); and granddaughter, Jazmin (Adam Short).

Mr. Arnold proudly served in the United States Army after high school.

He was also a well respected second generation Iowa horseman, who later made his mark in Kentucky and then moved north to Chicago. Doing what he loved most, harness horse racing, allowed him to participate at tracks all over the USA and Canada.

From 1977 to 2016, his drives surpassed $4.8 million and he reached the winner’s circle 2,645 times in his career. Numerous driving and training titles were taken by him and great horses he loved such as Bagel Beach Boy, Chevie Duramax, Pay To Play, Doubletime Tuff, Jeremy Moon, Fox Valley Gambler, and Bryant Gimble. He enjoyed success on the Grand Circuit with Quik Pulse Mindale.

Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday (March 23) at the Powers-Kell Funeral Home, 12 N. Limestone Street, Jamestown, Ohio.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
