Monticello, NY — Monticello Raceway, which has been racing a four-day-a-week racing schedule — Mondays through Thursdays — will add two Sunday afternoon racing programs this month; the first will be on July 18 followed by the next week on July 25.
Post times for the two Sunday race cards will be at the usual 12:50 p.m.
“We added these Sundays so we could present our 18th annual Ms Monticello Raceway Pageant,” noted Shawn Wiles, the Raceway’s Assistant General Manager. “We have a huge field of beautiful young ladies who are eager to compete for the $3,500 first prize offered by the pageant sponsor Larry Roman. Over $8,000 will be given away that day with $1,500 going to the first runner-up and $1,000 for the second runner-up.”
The pageant will get underway at 12:30 p.m. and be run in conjunction with the racing programs on both Sundays. The action will take place on the track’s stage which will be positioned on the grandstand apron. Pageant sponsor Larry Roman will serve as master of ceremonies.
Between the races on those Sundays the pageant will be captured by the track’s video cameras so all who carry the Monticello Raceway simulcast signal can look in on the proceedings.
