Monticello, NY — The curtain falls on the New York Sire Stakes season at Monticello Raceway Monday (Aug. 19) when 2-year-old trotting fillies will close out the year. Up for grabs is $106,300 for the seven freshman contestants.
My Debt Collector has been installed as the early morning line favorite at 5-2. The daughter of Chapter Seven will start from post position three. She has scored in a Sire Stakes at Tioga Downs where she took her lifetime record of 1:57.4. Jim Taggart Jr. will drive for trainer Nifty Norman.
Ake Svanstedt brings Beautiful Sight (post four) to the fray with Tyler Buter at the helm. The Chapter Seven filly made a miscue in her last effort, but prior to that she scored a Tioga NYSS win in 1:56.2 for owners S R F Stable.
Also featured on the card are two divisions of the $20,000 Excelsior Stakes carded as races three and four.
Michelon’s Titan drew the seven hole in the second split. The daughter of E L Titan has two wins in the class for trainer Erv Miller and has banked an even $25,000 in her four starts. Tyler Buter will handle the driver chores.
Purple Haze Stables has entered Flashchap, a winner last time at Vernon where she took her lifetime record of 1:59. She will start from post four for trainer-driver Trond Smedshammer.
In the other heat, Going To Vegas from the rail is the favorite. Still winless, the Paul Kelley trained daughter of Chapter Seven is a Goshen Yearling Sale alumni. Tyler Buter will drive.
