Dover, DE — Mrmayor Hanover said goodbye to the year 2024 and coasted to victory in the $25,000 Open Trot at Bally’s Dover on Tuesday night (Dec. 31) despite high winds and rain.
The betting favorite, Mrmayor Hanover floated on the outside, waited for the field to settle, then rushed to the top at the quarter pole. Mrmayor Hanover cut out fractions of :27.1 to the opening quarter, then the half was reached in a pedestrian :56.4. The field remained in single file trotting midway up the backstretch. Resolve To Win raced first up and Chapheart followed second over in perfect striking position on the rim. Swan’s Maid viewed the race action from the pocket.
Mrmayor Hanover raced well within himself passing the three-quarters in 1:25.2. He drew off in the stretch and won by two lengths, trotting the mile in 1:54.2 and paid $4.80 for the win. Chapheart finished second and The Gruffalo was third.
Mrmayor Hanover (Explosive Matter) is owned by Sartin Racing. Chuck Crissman Jr. trains and Tim Tetrick drove. Tetrick drove six winners on the 13-race.
The career of JL Cruze was celebrated in the winner’s circle after he competed in the 12th race. JL Cruze finished third in the race and surpassed $2 million in purses earned.
