Dover, DE — Mrmayor Hanover utilized give-and-go tactics to capture Tuesday night’s (Dec. 17) $25,000 Open Handicap Trot at Bally’s Dover.
Mrmayor Hanover and 3-5 favorite Chapheart left together trotting towards the first turn. Chapheart took the lead through a :28 opening quarter, but Mrmayor Hanover then brushed from the pocket to the lead in front of the stands before passing the half in :57.2 and three-quarters in 1:24.4 while the field followed him single file. Mrmayor Hanover drew off in the stretch and won by 2-3/4 lengths in 1:53.4. Chapheart was second; Swan’s Maid finished third.
Tim Tetrick drove Mrmayor Hanover, a 5-year-old Explosive Matter gelding, for owner Sartin Racing and trainer Chuck Crissman Jr. He paid $5.80 to win.
Tetrick’s eight driving wins on the 15-race card was one shy of his record nine wins on a single program at Bally’s Dover, a feat he achieved in 2011.
Wednesday’s (Dec. 18) program features a $110,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders’ Fund final for 3-year-old pacing fillies and a $25,000 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace. First post is 4:30 p.m. (EST).
