Muscle Dynasty king in Dover trotting feature

Dover, DE — Muscle Dynasty flexed his muscles after back-to-back subpar efforts and won the $25,000 Open Handicap Trot at Bally’s Dover on Tuesday night (March 5).

Northern Express left from post eight and roared to the top, trotting the opening quarter in :27.2 over a sloppy racing surface as I Get It secured the pocket and even-money choice Muscle Dynasty settled along the pylons in fourth.

Northern Express comfortably rated the half in :56.4 before Muscle Dynasty led a first-over charge and challenged for the lead at the 1:25.1 three-quarters. Meanwhile, I Get It remained in the pocket, Fifty Ways followed second-over and Black Hope raced third-over on the rim. Northern Express and Muscle Dynasty squared off in the stretch, and Muscle Dynasty wore down the leader late to win by a measured length in 1:54.1. Northern Express fought hard and finished second; I Get It was third from the pocket.

Corey Callahan drove Muscle Dynasty for trainer Walter Callahan and owner Frank Chick. The son of Muscle Hill paid $4.00 to win.

Another son of Muscle Hill made headlines on the undercard as 4-year-old trotter The Fast Lane ran his winning streak to eight races for owners Joan Dalphon and Elanor Laws with a 1:54.3 score in the $17,000 Winners-Over Trot. Tony Morgan, who was at the helm for trainer Tim Crissman, led all drivers with six wins on the 13-race program.

On Wednesday (March 6), Jody and Tae renew their rivalry in the Mares Open Handicap Pace, carded as race 11. First post is 4:30 p.m.
