Nevada Standardbred Association announces the creation of the Nevada Standardbred Development Program

Las Vegas, NV — The Nevada Standardbred Association (“NVSA”) is proud to announce the creation of the Nevada Standardbred Development Program (“NSDP”). This program was created to help develop and fund Standardbred performance in Nevada. The purpose of the NSDP is to fund the performance life of Standardbreds in racing, breeding, and horsemanship.

About the Program:

Beginning in 2024 for a modest fee, breeders may register their sires and/or broodmares in the NSDP. Sire and broodmare registrations enable any of their foals (existing and future) to be nominated in NSDP. If nominated, as the foals grow and become sires or broodmares their first line will be eligible to be registered for the NSDP breeding program like their sire or dam.

The program also enables breeders of registered sires and broodmares to be eligible for Breeder Awards. Award season will begin in 2025 based on 2024 registrations and enrollment. To receive Breeder Awards, racing foals must be enrolled in the NSDP. Foal registrations can occur up to Dec. 31, 2024 to be eligible for awards beginning in 2025.

Standardbred sires, broodmares and foals from any location worldwide, in order to register or enroll in the NSDP, must be registered with the United States Trotting Association.

Racing will begin after a track is up or converted. Events may begin as soon as the number of performers is sufficient. NVSA would like to begin sponsoring Standardbred events as soon as Fall 2024 subject to enrollment.
