New York State Police arrest trainer Frederick Bourgault

Columbus, OH — The Albany Times Union is reporting that New York State Police on Tuesday (Jan. 30) arrested trainer Frederick Bourgault on an indictment charging him with two felonies for clubbing a race horse with a metal pipe last summer.

Bourgault, 25, who lives in Canada and Pine Bush, N.Y., a hamlet in Orange County, was indicted in November by a grand jury following a three-month investigation by State Police. He is charged with criminal mischief and causing injuries to a domestic animal, both felonies. Bourgault was arrested on a warrant Tuesday after returning to the U.S. from Canada, officials said.
