Columbus, OH — Nicholas Anthony Cirillo, 88, of The Bronx, N.Y., died Oct. 22, 2023, at his home, with his family by his side.
He was born Aug. 12, 1935, in New York, N.Y., the son of the late Joseph and Carmela (Fusco) Cirillo.
In October 1953, he enlisted and served his country in the Army of the United States of America. He was honorably discharged in July 1955.
He was employed as a detective in the New York Police Department, was vice-president of New York City Off Track Betting, and was a member of the United States Harness Writers Association.
He is survived by his children, Ronnie and John (Dee); grandchildren, Nicholas Vaccarello, Lauren Vaccarello, Jenna Valente, James Ellerby, Joseph Ellerby, Nicholas Ellerby, and Gianna; siblings, Joseph (Marge) and Ann Marie (Dominick) Monteleone; sister-in-law, Olga; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; brother, Vincent (aka Jimmy); and sister, Grace Killeen and her husband Jack.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Ralph Giordano Funeral Home, 1727 Crosby Ave., Bronx, N.Y. on Thursday (Oct. 26) from 3-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Theresa Church, 2855 St. Theresa Ave., Bronx, N.Y. on Friday (Oct. 27) at 9:45 a.m. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. on Friday at 11:30 a.m. with Army Military Honors.
