Night Terror cruises in DSBF late closer

Dover, DE — Night Terror romped as the 1-2 favorite in the $51,900 Delaware Standardbred Breeders’ Fund late closing series final for 3-year-old pacing colts and geldings, held Thursday (March 30) at Bally’s Dover.

The son of Badlands Hanover showed off his quick early speed and reached the lead easily through a :27.3 first quarter as Notte’s Mist settled in the pocket and the rest followed single file. Night Terror and driver Allan Davis backed the half down to :57, but the pair were forced to accelerate to three-quarters in 1:25 as the first-over Delightinhisglory surged first-over to challenge up the backstretch.

At the top of the stretch, Notte’s Mist charged from out of the pocket, but his bid stalled. Night Terror won in hand by 1-1/2 lengths in a lifetime best 1:52.4.

Notte’s Mist (driven by Trae Porter) finished second; Bad Boy Too (Simon Allard) rallied from off the pace for third.
