Grove City, OH – Northfield Park Racino hosted eight $50,000 divisions of the Ohio Fairs Championships as part of a 15-race card on Saturday (Oct. 10).
Sophomores
Vh Goldie (driven by Dan Noble) recorded the fastest mile of the OFC races, winning the 3-year-old filly pace division by three-quarters of a length in 1:53.4, matching her lifetime mark. The Dancin Yankee filly led gate to wire with fractions of :27, :54.4, and 1:23.4 en route to the win. Rose Run Bella (Justin Irvine) was second followed by Mt Camas (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) in third. Vh Goldie is trained by David Young II for owner William Thomas. She has 19 career wins with $119,759 in earnings.

Flirtin Tomi (Wrenn Jr.) was the sophomore filly trot champion, winning by a neck over Herman Hagerman stablemate Lynn Range (Noble) in 1:57.1. Princess Karolyn (Braiden Rhoades) was third. It was the 14th career win for Flirtin Tomi, a Long Tom filly owned by Jay and Joseph Burkholder, as she increased her earnings to $126,856.
Chris Page was the winning driver in the sophomore colt pace and colt trot divisions with Fired Up Henry L and Out Of Range, respectively.
Fired Up Henry L took the 3-year-old colt pace championship by a nose over Gc’s Legend (Christian Myers) in 1:54.4. Captain’s Dance (Sam Widger) finished third. Fired Up Henry L was in fourth place and trailed leader Ourcoltofmanycolor (Aaron Merriman) by 3-1/2 lengths at the three-quarter pole before using a late surge down the final stretch for the victory. The Catch The Fire gelding is trained by Hank LeVan for owners LeVan Stables and Megan LeVan. He has 17 career wins and $131,435 in earnings.
Out Of Range won the 3-year-old colt trot championship in gate-to-wire fashion. The In Range gelding recorded fractions of :28.3, :58, and 1:27 through the first three calls en route to winning by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:56. Lane Holding Court (Jeff Nisonger) and Pump Action (Widger) rounded out the top three. Out Of Range is trained by Steve Carter for owner James Crawford IV. He has 12 career wins, 11 of which have come this season, while banking $96,782.
Freshmen
Thee Town Buckeye (Jason Beattie) recorded the fastest mile among the freshman winners, taking the 2-year-old male pace championship in 1:55.2. The Fear The Dragon gelding led gate to wire with fractions of :27.3, :57.1, and 1:26.3 en route to winning by a neck over Sonnys Big Brother (Irvine) while Vh Dancin Guy (Noble) was over seven lengths back in third. Thee Town Buckeye has hit the board in all 15 seasonal starts with 12 wins and $61,345 in earnings. He is trained by Craig Bowman for owner Michael Fletcher.
Krazy Caviar (Widger) was the freshman male trot winner, tripping the wire in 1:58.3, smashing his prior lifetime mark of 2:01.4. The Triumphant Caviar gelding led gate to wire with fractions of :28.2, :58.4, and 1:28.1 and won by 1-1/4 lengths. Ranger Lonnie L (Merriman) and Otis L (Hank LeVan) rounded out the top three. Krazy Caviar is a Rosy Weaver trainee. Owned by Heartland Acres and Weaver, he has eight wins and $56,881 in earnings.
Seaside Masquerade (Alex Hawk) won the freshman filly pace division by half a length in 1:56.2 with Nova’s Legend (Rhoades) in second and Catch The Moment (Widger) in third. The Downbytheseaside filly is trained by Randy Smith for owner Amelia Smith. She has hit the board in 13 of 14 seasonal starts with 11 victories and $66,467 in earnings.
The freshman filly trot division was declared a no-contest due to a broken line on Royaltime after the field crossed the quarter pole.
