Columbus, OH – The November issue of Hoof Beats magazine features the Vincent Delaney Memorial, which has been held annually in Ireland since 2012. It was created by Vincent’s brothers, Derek and James, to memorialize his life with an event that all of the Delaney brothers loved.

Created after Vincent died of a heart attack at the age of 27 in 2011, the event has grown significantly since its inception.
Evan Pattak’s story “The Jewel of the Isle” about the history of the Vincent Delaney Memorial is accompanied by photos taken by the U.S. Trotting Association’s Mark Hall who attended this year’s event on Aug. 10, 2024.

In this month’s USTA executive column “Watching the Wheels,” Executive Vice President and CEO Mike Tanner details his involvement in recruiting a group of 10 people to form a new fractional ownership stable called the Columbus Yacht Club stable.
In the story, “Just the Ten of Us,” Tanner explains how he assembled an assortment of people from different times and places in his life that include his wife, friends, former colleagues, as well as others who are involved in the harness racing industry.
Each partner owns 10% of the Summa Cum Laude–Best Place To Rock yearling named Best Busch Laude, who was purchased for $26,000 from the Midland Acres consignment at the Ohio Selected Jug Sale on Sept. 13.
He describes the reasons for the new endeavor.
“The idea is to have fun, try to find some luck on the racetrack, and enjoy the sport and each other. Right now, hopes are high for all those things,” he wrote.
