Monticello, NY – Three-year-old trotting fillies will be competing at Monticello Raceway on Monday (Aug. 17) when the seventh leg of the New York Sire Stakes visits the famed Catskill Mountain oval. Fifteen fillies were entered; the Sire Stakes contest is worth $115,000 with five starters, with two $20,000 Excelsior Series divisions on the card also with five starters.
The dash for cash is a five-horse race worth $115,000, Who Dares Wins (post 4) will be driven by Johnathan Ahle for trainer Ake Svanstedt. The Chapter Seven-Inspired By Life sophomore scored in a Sire Stakes event earlier this season at Saratoga Raceway in 1:56.4 and won her division at Buffalo Raceway in 1:56.2. she has seasonal earnings of $100,737.
Sharp Seven will start from the rail and will be driven by Matt Kakaly. The Chapter Seven-Lookin Sharp filly is looking to regain her freshman form when she was five-time winner and earned $400,000 for trainer George Ducharme. She is owned by Purple Haze Stables. This season she has three wins, scoring a Sire Stakes victory at Saratoga in 1:55.4, and has banked $98,075.
