Hamburg, NY – It’s closing week for the 2026 season at Buffalo Raceway. While this year’s chapter is coming to an end at the Hamburg half-mile oval, 15 freshman filly trotters will basically be beginning their racing careers in a pair of races in the New York Sire Stakes. First post for the 13-race program will be at 2:30 p.m. (EDT).
There are 15 females entered in the two divisions, with only two of them having a pari-mutuel start.
The only winner in her first and only start is Miss Lady May (Back Of The Neck-Marion Mayflower). She took a 2-3/4-length victory at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows on June 24. Miss Lady May will start from the five 5 with Anthony MacDonald in the sulky for trainer Jason McGinnis in the $54,500 first division.
Others in the field looking to make their mark in their career debuts include Seveallisto (driver Leon Bailey), Loveagain Volo (Jason Bartlett), T N Tosh (Jeff Gregory), Sensitivity (Jordan Stratton), French Pastry (Andy Miller) and Bang The Drum (Dan Daley).
In the $55,500 second bracket, Jula Florence (Chapter Seven-Jula Shes Magic) had one start at Harrah’s Philadelphia on June 25 and came up just short, losing by three-quarters of a length. Andy Miller will steer the Julie Miller trainee from the post 4.
The others in the full field of eight include Descendo (Drew Monti), Wavy Xavie (Gregory), Every Last Dream (Brett MacDonald), Little By Little (Bartlett), Seven Thirds (Markus Niklasson), Turn The Chapter (Doug McNair) and Chapizzy (Stratton).
While there’s little to go by handicapping the race lines, a driver could be a big factor. That angle would easily go to Bartlett.
Bartlett’s appearances this season at Buffalo Raceway have been spectacular to say the least. He has had 28 starts and has 11 victories including seven wins back on July 8. He has a gaudy UDR of .556 and $322,413 in purse earnings in those 28 attempts.
A pair of five-horse fields will open the program as the $20,000 Excelsior Series will be contested. All 10 of those damsels will be making their first career starts.
Buffalo Raceway, besides Wednesday’s program, will complete the season with cards on Friday and Saturday, with both starting at 2:30 p.m.
