Terre Haute, IN – Odus Bud Davis, age 95, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 9, 2026. Bud, as he liked to be called, was born on July 25, 1931, to the late Edward and Ruth Davis in Terre Haute. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Ellen Phillips Davis, his children, grandchildren and many friends.
He was a decorated Korean War Veteran serving in the United States Marine Corp. For the next fifty years after service, he became dedicated to and enjoyed Harness Racing. As a fourth-generation participant in Standard Bred Harness racing he became a Trainer and a Driver. He was known throughout Midwestern tracks and the Grand Circuit.
Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2026, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. for private family viewing, and 10:00 a.m. for friends and associates until the time of service at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home located at 3421 Harrodsburg Road, in Lexington. Burial will follow with military rites at Camp Nelson, in Nicholasville.
Pallbearers will be his stepson, George William Hill, Grandchild, Michael Andrew Hill, Marine Brother, and Stepson-n-law, Denver Coulter, Grandson, Jeremy Jones, and Good Friends, Brent Ellis and Perry Hurst.
