PA Fair Report: Clearfield

Clearfield, PA — The 3-year-old trotters kicked off the four-day meet on Monday (August 1) at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds in Clearfield, Pa.

The day’s first two races were Quaker Stakes for PA-owned or PA-sired horses. Comfy’s Magic, owned and trained by Brian Weaver, won the first in 2:08 for driver Timmy Offutt. Comfy’s Magic is a daughter of CR Royal Magic. The second Quaker Trot went to Procol Harem Chip, also owned by Weaver, in partnership with trainer/driver Kim Good. Procol Harem Chip, by Chip Chip Hooray, trotted in 2:13.3.

Four divisions of the PA Sire Stake 3-year-old filly trot were up next, and the Brocious Racing Stable dominated the first two splits. RT Show Stopper (RT Giant) and RT Girls Lie Too (Ebanks), both trained and reined by Bobby Rougeaux, won in 2:08 and 2:08.3, respectively. In the third division, Mynah Hanover was a 2:05.3 winner for owners Stephen Lander, Virginia Schoeffel and Kathy Schoeffel. The Cantab Hall filly is trained and was driven by Steve Schoeffel. The final division was captured by Witch’s Magic Brew, a CR Royal Magic filly. Owned by Robin and Brian Weaver, Witch’s Magic Brew was driven by Timmy Offutt for trainer Brian Weaver.

Four divisions of the PASS 3-year-old colt trot ended the day, and Unbeatable Hanover lived up to his name in the first group. The SJ’s Caviar colt scored in 2:05.3 for Timmy Offutt’s third winning drive of the day. Joe and Karen Offutt own the winner, while Joe trains. In the second event, Cadence Hall, trained and driven by Bill Daugherty, was a 2:04.4 winner. Susan Daugherty owns the son of Chip Chip Hooray. The third division went even faster, as Keystone Wild Card (SJ’s Caviar) trotted in 2:03.3 for trainer/driver Todd Schadel. Schadel also co-owns with Max Hempt, Bradly Graffius and John Frisch. The day’s final race then proved to be the fastest, as S J Better Days covered the mile in 2:03.2 for catch-driver Roger Hammer. The Dunn Stable owns the SJ’s Caviar gelding and Boots Dunn trains.
