Trevor Smith thought highly of The Mighty Hill even before the 4-year-old male trotter joined his father’s stable earlier this year. The gelding’s performances in three starts since then have only solidified Smith’s opinion. The Mighty Hill, who was Ohio’s champion 2-year-old male trotter in 2021, has posted two wins and a second at Miami Valley Raceway since owner Bet The House purchased the horse Feb. 11 and returned him to the Buckeye State after stints in New York and Pennsylvania.

Veteran pacers put on a show in Jim Dailey Memorial medley
At ages that most horses are past their prime, a bunch of war horses gathered on Monday (March 20) at Miami Valley Raceway to contest the $30,000 championship leg of the Jim Dailey Memorial Medley. When the dust cleared after the 1-1/4 mile final in 2:23, Tulhurstsantanna A (age 10) was the winner. He was followed across the finish line by Grantmeawish (age 8), Nuclear Dragon (11), Big Booty Rudy (7), Velocity Poprocks (8), Beyond Delight (9) and American Dreamer (9). Oddly, the only two 5-year-olds—widely considered a prime age for horses to peak in form–in the field finished last.
Believeinthespirit only double winner in his Game Of Claims group
After five $7,500 divisions of the third and final preliminary leg of the Game Of Claims Pacing Series for $7,500 base-tag pacers Monday (March 20) afternoon at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania, there was only one horse who won twice in the prelims, Believeinthespirit.
