Penzance Hanover is the best at Dover on Thursday night

Dover, DE – Penzance Hanover left, settled then brushed enroute to his fourth consecutive win in the Blue Hen Open Handicap Pace at Bally’s Dover on Thursday (March 9) night.

Baba O’Riley and Rose Run Uriah left quickly in unison, racing to the quarter pole. Penzance Hanover left, settled in third, then brushed to the top reaching the quarter in :27.2. Penzance Hanover led the field single file to the half in :55.3, a :28.1 quarter.

Rose Run Uriah sat in the pocket and Baba O’Reilly remained along the pylons in third as the field played follow the leader to a confident Penzance Hanover.

Downers Delight raced coverless past the half but that bid stalled. The three-quarters were reached in 1:23.3 (28). In the stretch, Penzance Hanover became leg weary late. Rose Run Uriah raced along the pylons and Baba O’ Riley closed late on the outside.

Penzance Hanover dug in and won by a neck in 1:51.3 as the betting favorite. He returned $3.80 to his backers. Penzance Hanover (Somebeachsomewhere) is owned, trained and driven by Art Stafford Jr. Baba O’Riley finished second for trainer and driver W. Bart Dalious. Rose Run Uriah finished third for trainer Traci Berry. Pat Berry drove.
