Wilkes-Barre, PA — Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania is scheduled to begin its 2025 harness racing season on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 15). Post time is at 1 p.m., opening a campaign that marks the 60th anniversary of racing at the Wilkes-Barre Township track.
The track opened its doors for its first season on July 15, 1965. Now ensconced as one of the finest locations for harness racing in North America, Pocono is preparing for a meet that will encompass 134 racing dates.
Racing begins in February with cards on Saturday and Monday afternoons, with first post times of 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon racing begins in March, and then, in May, the track goes to four dates a week with the addition of Sunday night racing. Closing day is set for Saturday (Nov. 22).
There are 15 races on the card for opening day on Saturday. That includes seven divisions of the first leg of the “Game of Claims” series, as well as a feature pace with a purse of $25,000.
