Batavia, NY — When Pointomygranson won the $8,000 conditioned pace on Thursday (Sept. 24) at Batavia Downs, it was the 65th win of the stalwart pacer’s 10-year career, and it pushed his earnings to just under $900,000 as a result.
Pointomygranson (Drew Monti) grabbed the lead from his pylon position start and then led the race from there out. With Solar Solution (John Cummings Jr.) drafting in the pocket, Pointomygranson posted quarters of :28.3 and :58.1 to the half. As the race moved onto the second circuit, Pointomygranson saw an outer flow form, led by Andrews Ideal (Brett MacDonald), but there was no threat to the leader at that station.
Pointomygranson had a 1-1/2-length lead at three-quarters, and he extended it around turn four to 2-1/4 at the top of the stretch. But it got tenuous for Pointomygranson when he turned for home as Stranger Things (Kevin Cummings) was flying three-wide from fifth and was gobbling up ground as they thundered down the lane. Stranger Things continued to close fast, but the wire came faster as Pointomygranson hung on to win by a neck in 1:56.
The now 12-year-old Pointomygranson ($2.40) was a New York Sire Stakes star at both 2 and 3 and competed in the Breeders Crown eliminations in 2016. He later went on to take a lifetime mark of 1:49.4 at Woodbine Mohawk Park in 2019 and has now earned a total of $899,550 during his illustrious career.

There were several other long-tenured winners besides Pointomygranson that posted lofty career wins during the card: My Mind Is Madeup (48th win), Daylight Rush (46th win), Echo De Meautis (45th win) and Thor De Vie (42nd win).
Drew Monti led all drivers with a hat trick on Thursday while 10 different trainers each won one race apiece.
Live racing at Batavia Downs will resume on Saturday (Sept. 26) at 5 p.m.; there will be a $6,902 carryover in the Jackpot Super Hi-5, in the 11th race.
