Primo Uomo cruises to victory at Vernon

Vernon, NY — Primo Uomo captured the $8,500 featured pace on Saturday (Oct. 28) at Vernon Downs.

Primo Uomo ($4.40) was first to the quarter in :27.3.  He used a :29.4 second quarter to be first to the half in :57.2.  Rally Your Crew (Barton Dalious) was first to make a move going around the final turn.  Primo Uomo led to three-quarters in 1:26.4.

As they made the turn for home Primo Uomo shook off Rally Your Crew leaving Bluesville (Tom Merton) as the major danger.  Bluesville popped the pocket and went all out after the lead.  Primo Uomo was too strong and won in 1:53.3.  Bluesville had to settle for second.  Nolaughingstock (Claude Huckabone III) finished third.

Primo Uomo is a 3-year-old gelding by Heston Blue Chip.  David Dewhurst trains for owners Chris and Dale Lawton.  It was his 14th win this season.  He owns 15 career victories.

Tom Merton drove three winners on the card.  John MacDonald, Mark Whitcroft, and Truman Gale had driving doubles.  Jeff Byron and Cheryl Whitcroft had training doubles.
