Vernon, NY – Primo Uomo (Dylan Huckabone-Miller) takes the $8,500 Open Pace at Vernon Downs on Saturday (August 8).
Humble A (Chris Long) was first to the quarter in :26.1. He flew to the half in :54.1. He maintained the lead to three quarters in 1:22.1.
As they entered the stretch Primo Uomo ($14.82) popped out of the pocket and took the lead. Second place finisher Bluesville (Ron Harp) and third place finisher Fasnacht Hanover (Rene Goulet) came charging late, but Primo Uomo was much the best with a lifetime best 1:50.0.
Primo Uomo is a 6-year-old gelding by Heston Blue Chip. He is trained by David Dewhurst for owners Chris and Dale Lawton. It was his sixth win this season. He now has 37 career victories.
Huckabone-Miller and Joe Nassimos had driving doubles. Kayla Lum had a training double.
