Proper One repeats Opening Night success at Harrington; Teague wins four

Harrington, DE — Louis Tomczak Jr.’s Proper One has a good record on opening night at Harrington Raceway, winning for the second straight year on the track’s opening night (Monday, April 10). His 1:55.1 triumph kicked off the southern Delaware raceway’s 77th season of harness racing in the first of 14 races on the program.

A winer of nearly $500,000 lifetime, Proper One utilized a second-over trip to outkick his rivals late for a narrow win over fellow long shot Silver Fox J and Win Not Lou, returning $55.40 to win. Cody Poliseno drove the 9-year-old Proper Respect gelding for trainer Carlo Poliseno.

Proper One started the season in similar fashion last year when he was victorious as an even bigger long shot and paid $148 to win.

In the $17,000 Junior Open feature, George and Tina Dennis’ Wager On Me ($10.80, Mike Cole) was a 1:53.3 winner over Got The Mojo and Bodega Bay. The Joe Columbo trainee utilized a :27.1 last quarter to pass tiring rivals late for his fourth win of the year.

Montrell Teague drove four winners on the card, including a pair each for trainers Clyde Francis and Chuck Crissman Jr. Pat Berry and Corey Callahan drove two winners apiece.

Live racing at Harrington will continue on a Monday-through-Wednesday schedule. Post time is 4:30 p.m.
