Three Of Spades posted his third straight win in Dover’s top pacing event.
It apparently is getting to be a habit for Bill DeLodovico and Bib Roberts’ Three Of Spades. The 7-year-old Cam’s Card Shark-Triple Flip gelding was sidelined for much of 2009, but since Dover Downs opened in November he has recorded six wins in the Monday feature race. His victory this week upped his seasonal bankroll to $112,840.
Driver Jon Roberts spent more than three-quarters of a 1:50.4 mile on the outside, working his way up to contend and then pulling away in a :26.3 final panel for a one length triumph. Booze Cruzin had led through the early stanzas for Tim Tetrick before yielding in the late going. Blissfull Silence, a 26-1 shot, had been an early contender for Ron Pierce and held on to finish third.
All Solano has had to show for the three races for Kathleen Wyatt and trainer Johnny Waite since being claimed March 1 is three consecutive impressive victories. Mike Cole was in the bike for this one, in the $37,000 Delaware Special, hustling from post eight to find a spot third. The pair were quickly out and going to the lead before the half and then bid adieu to six opponents for a 1:51.4 win. The clocking was a personal best for the No Pan Intended-Bloodstock Nilator horse. Dollars Bromac (Eric Goodell) was the runner-up. Dontloseyourdayjob (Daryl Bier) was the show horse.
Tim Lancaster’s That’s Justice made good use of starting from post one in the $30,000 Open Pace as Vince Copeland shot the Village Jove-Power Persuasion gelding into the lead after the opening quarter and rolled on for a 1:51 win, his third of the year while pushing his earnings to $64,170. Bad Rusty (Ross Wolfenden) closed from sixth at the three-quarters to finish second in front of Ideal Vintage (Tetrick).

McNair is magic at Western Fair
London, ON — Young driver Doug McNair was the star of the program on Monday at Western Fair as he captured four of the 12 races on the card including the co-featured Preferred Pace and Trot.
In the C$13,500 featured pace, McNair and Part Shark left from post one and never relinquished that position through fractions of :27.3, :57.4 and 1:27.1 and were home with two lengths to spare in 1:55.3. Grand Bend Turbo sat the pocket the entire mile and finished second while Logan M grabbed third.
It was the third win in nine seasonal starts for Park Shark, a 4-year-old gelding by Four Starzzz Shark owned by Barbara and James Lehman, Robert Patterson and trainer Wayne Preszcator.
In the next race McNair used the same strategy with Bertorico in a very exciting C$13,500 Preferred Trot as they went gate-to-wire and held on to narrowly win in 1:58.3. Last week’s winner Connected Yankee was a head shy at the wire while Sonny Vale was just a neck behind in third.
Nick Boyd trains the winner, a 6-year-old gelding by Lindy Lane owned by Susan Hutton. A full brother to former Paula Wellwood student Bertolio, a Hambletonian starter and winner of $192,721 before being exported to Holland, Bertorico’s effort Monday put him at $33,427 on the year and $154,007 lifetime.
McNair’s other trips to the winner’s circle were in the first two races on the program thanks to Casimir Hustler (1:59.4) and A K Sweet Swing (1:57.1).

Bartlett, Merton each win a pair at Monticello
Monticello, NY — Jason Bartlett again made a trip to Monticello Raceway on Monday afternoon and reined two winners in three drives.
Bartlett, who leads the pack at Yonkers Raceway while his 151 seasonal triumphs ranks him third nationally, drove two winners for Bulletproof Enterprises at the Mighty M. He scored a 2:00.2 victory with In The Game in the fifth race and then won the eighth with Little Red Dress in 2:00.1. Needless to say both winners were the betting favorites in their respective events.
After the eighth race finished Bartlett, now a Goshen, N.Y., resident, was off to the Hilltop oval where he reined three more winners that evening.
Greg Merton continues his assault on 3,000 lifetime driving victories and moved ever closer by driving two more winners on Monday afternoon. Merton, a two time Mighty M driving champion, scored behind a $125 “bomb” in the first race when he guided Sweety’s Finale to a 2:01.3 triumph and then scored a 2:02.4 victory with Asian Express in the 13th and final race on the card.
With those victories Merton, who has reined 68 winners this season, is just six away from the coveted 3,000 career win milestone.
