Vernon, NY — Ramborain (Dan Daley) captured the $7,500 featured trot at Vernon Downs on Saturday (Sept. 5) in a 5-1/4-lengths romp.
What A Mission (Michael Miller) led the field of seven to the quarter in :26.3. He then used a :29.1 second quarter to command the group through a :56.1 opening half. Ramborain ($7.32), second choice in the betting, made his move first-up heading around the final turn. He grabbed the lead and led to three quarters in 1:25.
As they made the turn for home it became a race for second as Ramborain won going away in 1:54. Tiktok Roy (Jimmy Whittemore) was second. Beaueastel (Chris Long) finished third.
Ramborain is a 5-year-old gelding by Crazy Wow. He is trained by Dan Daley for owners Ann-Mari Daley, JLRL LLC, Todd Van Alstyne, and Margerot Waterbury. The victory is the third seasonal win for Ramborain, and his 16th career victory.
Chris Long turned in a driving triple while Leon Bailey scored a driving double. Gary Gibson and Luke Carswell each registered training doubles.
