Retired Standardbreds participate in Scioto Back to the Track

from Ohio Standardbreds & Friends

Columbus, OH — Ohio Standardbreds & Friends, SPHO of Ohio and nine Standardbreds participated in Back to the Track 2016 at Eldorado Scioto Downs on Saturday night (July 30).

Seven of the horses were adopted from New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program.

Debbie Schiff, President of Ohio Standardbreds & Friends, said, “Although all of the horses paid attention when the call to the post was played and also when the excitement was felt by everyone at the last turn, not one of the horses had a negative reaction. Their eyes perhaps did however tell a story that their lips could not speak.”

The group got to talk to lots of racing fans about adoption and what this breed can do during and after their racing careers. The horses got to be loved on by lots of the kids and fed treats as well. The kids also participated in stick horse races, bubble gum blowing and bubble blowing contests. They all received USTA coloring books in a bag made by Donna Herriott with SPHO.

You can find both organizations on Facebook for information on their events.
