Georgetown, KY – Ronnie “Duck” Gordon Foster, 79, passed away of cancer in his home on May 9, 2026, in Georgetown, Ky.
Ron was known for his great sense of humor and brought laughter to all around him. He loved the outdoors and could often be found cruising the neighborhood in his golf cart and chatting with everyone he met.
He was an avid horse lover and started his career at Walnut Hall Farm at the age of 16. His love and compassion for horses grew as he aged. When Ted Woodley left Walnut Hall, Ron went with him to Willow Spring Farm in Versailles, where he worked for 10 years. He continued his career at Castleton Farm in Ohio, until the farm sold. He returned to Kentucky, still pursuing his career in horses with Peninsula Farm and then at Dunroven Stud, where he managed the farm for Martha and Steve Brown. Ron retired after 19 years of service. He was well known and respected in the Standardbred horse industry.
Ron was blessed with a large family and married into another large family. He was born in Bath County, Ky., to the late Mary Brierly and Asa Foster. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Wilma Hubbard Foster; his two loving children, Ronda and Ronnie Foster. He is also survived by five precious grandchildren, Tyler Foster, Ebony Foster, Chasity (Donnell) Dillion, Jarron Cumberland, and his hero, Olivia Towles; nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Ron is also survived by one brother, Sonnie (Della) Foster; three sisters, Wilma Reynolds, Darlene (Eddie) Woolums, Faye (Ralph) Ladson; two stepbrothers, David (Kim) Jones, Jimmy (Teressa) Jones and his several in-laws, Ron Montgomery, Sue Padgett, Pete Hubbard, Carl (Brenda) Hubbard, Ronnie Joe Hubbard, Rickey (Melissa) Hubbard and Jimmy Don Hubbard.
Besides his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his daughter, Cherly Lynn Foster; two sisters, Betty Wise and Sue Montgomery; one stepbrother, Robert Jones; two stepsisters, Sue White and Janie Jones; his mother and father-in-law, Helen and Earl Hubbard; two brothers-in-law, Earl Hubbard and Ronnie Padgett; and one great nephew, Andrew Hubbard.
Ron also had a love for children, especially those with special needs. He was a champion for any charity that helped children. To honor his memory, in lieu of flowers, please donate to Shriners, St. Jude or any other charity that services children. Donating to help pay for funeral expenses is appreciated.
A visitation will be held on Friday (May 15) at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The funeral service for Ron will be held at 1 p.m. the same day with Andy Waldron and Dwayne Russell officiating. The burial will follow the service to Georgetown Cemetery with Bryan Hubbard, Ronnie Lee Hubbard, Brandon Hubbard, Shawn Williams, Charlie Foster and James Foster serving as pallbearers.
