Rose Run Yolanda named 2023 Ohio 3-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year

Grove City, OH — Rose Run Yolanda followed up her freshman campaign by dominating the ranks of sophomore filly trotters on her way to being named the Ohio 3-Year-Old Filly Trotter of the Year.

It was the third time in the last five years that the 2-year-old champion repeated as a 3-year-old. Gabbys C Note did it in 2021 and 2022 and Only Take Cash accomplished the feat in 2018 and 2019.

Owned by Greg Luther Racing and bred by Rose Run Farm, Rose Run Yolanda won seven of her 18 starts, finished second in five other races, and was third twice. She earned $449,280. Her wins included three legs of the Ohio Sires Stakes, the Ohio State Fair Stakes, and the Ohio Sires Stakes Scarlet Championship.

Trainer Todd Luther says Rose Run Yolanda was easy to train because of her desire: “She loves to chase horses and once she learned how to do it at two it was all her from there.”

Rose Run Yolanda will be honored at the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association annual awards banquet on Jan. 13 at the Marriott Columbus OSU in Columbus, Ohio. Tickets to the banquet are $30 each and can be purchased by calling the OHHA office at 614.221.3650.

The 2023 Ohio Horse of the Year will be announced at the annual awards banquet.
