Dover, DE – Saints Design, an improbable winner, upset the field at 26-1 in the Bally’s Dover 3-Year-Old Late Closer for Trotting Fillies (DSBF eligibles) on Monday (March 17) night.

Saints Design needed the luck of the Irish and her daddy St Patricks Day to shine down on her to have any chance to win the race.
Race favorite Kat’s Fancy at 6-5 odds and Lady Burg at 8-5 rushed to the top and appeared to have the race locked up until they both went off stride before the quarter.
Song Master inherited the lead and reached the opening quarter in :29 seconds flat. The half was trotted in :58.3, a :29.3 quarter. Saints Design enjoyed the dream trip from the pocket. The remainder of the field were struggling to stay in contention.
Song Master started to become leg weary passing the three quarters in 1:29.3, a :31 quarter. Turning for home, Saints Design maneuvered off the pylons from the pocket and challenged a tiring Song Master for an improbable lead. Marino Bluestone spotted the field ten lengths at the start of the race and was closing fast.
Saints Design won by 2-3/4 lengths trotting her mile in 2:00.4. She rewarded her hunch backers to a $53.80 winning payout for a $2 ticket.
Marino Bluestone trotted a fast-closing second and pacesetter Song Master finished third.

Chapheart looks for a three-peat victory in the $18,000 Winners Over/ Select Handicap Trot on Tuesday (March 18). Bally’s Dover races Monday thru Thursday. Post time is 4:30 p.m.
