Saratoga Springs, NY – Wolfpack Zach is the winningest horse thus far this season at Saratoga Casino Hotel and on Wednesday afternoon, the rising star added another victory to his tally. Trained by Joel Flanders, the four year old Wolfpack Zach began his season competing against younger trotters at the Spa and after an early winning spree has climbed the ladder all the way up into the Open.

Wolfpack Zach prevailed in his debut in the Open on May 25th when he went coast-to-coast in 1:54.1, the fastest trotting mile of the year at Saratoga. Last week, the up-and-comer made a break as the favorite in the $18,000 Open Trot but avenged on Wednesday when he scored on the front-end in 1:54.2 with Jacob Cutting at the controls. Picture of consistency But Why (Jimmy Devaux) came from well off the pace to finish second in the feature while last week’s Open winner Spaaaanzano (Kyle Swift) finished third. But Why, last year’s Horse of the Year at the Spa, has now hit the board in nine of his ten starts in 2026. Wolfpack Zach’s Wednesday win was his eleventh on the season, more than any other horse in ‘26 at the Spa. He was the public’s 4-5 betting favorite in what was his second Open score of the campaign.
Live racing resumes on Saturday with a first post time set for Noon.
