Columbus, OH – After having long been eluded by trotting’s most prestigious race, Hall of Fame driver Yannick Gingras ended his Hambletonian drought with Nancy Takter trainee Karl in winning the 99th edition of harness racing’s midsummer classic.
The September issue of Hoof Beats features Gingras’ account of the race from the driver’s seat written by editor James Witherite.
Also in this month’s issue, former Hoof Beats editor Kathy Parker takes a look back 35 years ago at the dead heat between Probe and Park Avenue Joe in the final heat of the 1989 Hambletonian that remains one of the event’s most memorable editions.
In the monthly executive column, U.S. Trotting Association Chairman of the Board Joe Faraldo explains how the organization’s mission of creating a common-sense approach to regulatory guidelines led to the formation of the Harness Racing Medication Collaborative.
