Shenandoah to host Foiled Again at birthday celebration Saturday

Woodstock, VA — Legendary harness horse Foiled Again will celebrate his 20th birthday at Shenandoah Downs this Saturday (May 11) in afternoon festivities that include a “Happy Birthday” singalong, free cake and cupcakes, and a meet-and-greet with the equine legend where fans can get their picture taken with him.

Retired for six years now, the son of Dragon Again bankrolled over $7.6 million — the most ever by a Standardbred — from a stellar career in which he won 109 races and scored 225 top-three finishes from 331 starts. Win No. 104 of his illustrious career came at Shenandoah Downs on Sept. 29, 2018.

After that 2018 win, Foiled Again returned to Woodstock twice while retired, including a 2019 appearance where Hall of Fame driver John Campbell put on his former racing colors and led Foiled Again for a lap around the half-mile oval. The popular pacer also returned in 2022.

On Saturday, fans can also meet star driver Montrell Teague, who piloted Foiled Again to victory No. 105. Teague will be making his first appearance ever at Shenandoah Downs, though it will be in a promotional capacity — instead of driving.

Shenandoah Downs is located off exit 283 on Interstate 81, halfway between Winchester and Harrisonburg in northwestern Virginia. Harness racing has taken place at the Shenandoah County Fairgrounds for 106 years. More event details are at shenandoahdowns.com.
