Sherry Kamps Thomson, 83, dies

Columbus, OH — Sherry Kamps Thomson, 83, died Sept. 22, 2023.

She was born Sept. 1, 1940, in Lebanon, Ohio, to Everett and Mary Alice Kamps.

She graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University. Upon graduation she taught English and English Literature at Delaware Hayes. She also taught in Louisville, Ky. and Champaign/Urbana, Ill., earning a master’s degree in education from the University of Illinois. She finished her teaching career as the Director of Curriculum with Urbana (Ill.) City Schools.

Although she may have moved, her heart never left Delaware, Ohio. She returned to Delaware, and married Tom Thomson in 2002. They had a loving marriage and enjoyed mutual interests: food, travel, and of course, the Little Brown Jug.

She leaves behind to remember the impact she made on their lives her siblings, Karmen Vradelis, Michele Ullum, and Chris (Bev) Kamps; nephews, Sam (Angie) Ullum and Eli Ullum; niece, Mary Kamps (Brandon) Roark; stepchildren, Chriss Thomson Cawley (John Kidwell), Chip (Margaret) Thomson, Cheryl Thomson (Tom) Wright, and T Thomson; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and special friends, Deb Joseph, Barb Thoma, Linda Smith and Aaron Braun.

She adored her family and friends and never stopped teaching.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Delaware, Ohio, at the convenience of the families.

The Robinson Funeral Home in Delaware is assisting the family with arrangements.
