Columbus, OH – The USTA’s SIPSummer promotion featured Standardbred Incentive Program-enrolled Standardbreds and their riders. During the promotional period, participants who submitted a show placing from any horse show they attended this year and those who logged time of the trails were entered to win some SIP-tacular prizes.
The results are in, and the winner of the show placings prize drawing is Courtney Gramlich, who competes with her 2018 mare SUNSHINE MAEVE (Sunshine Beach-Pops Pumpkin-Big Jim). Doreen Doyle, who hits the trails with her 2020 gelding, CRAZY GUY (Crazy Wow-Pixie Dixie-Broadway Hall), was the trail miles drawing winner.
SUNSHINE MAEVE and Courtney have been participants in SIP since the 2024 season. While her track career was short lived, SUNSHINE MAEVE has hit her stride as a competitive show horse. The pair show off the versatility and endurance of a Standardbred in Western Ranch classes, where working cows is their specialty, but also compete in English riding events, participate in hunter paces, and more.
Doreen and CRAZY GUY, now known as Buckeye Crazy, have been adding consistent trail miles to their record these past years. Enrolled in SIP since 2024, they have already accumulated over 100 miles just this season and are on their way to hitting the next trail lifetime mark of 500 miles. As a Trail Maverick, Doreen and Buckeye Crazy were awarded their 100-mile marker patch in the 2025 SIP season. The other patches that Trail Mavericks can be awarded are the 500-mile, 1,000-mile and 2,500-mile marker patch.
The USTA looks forward to Standardbreds competing in the show ring, especially with the Standardbred National Horse Show, presented by Purple Haze Standardbred Adoption Program, just around the corner on Sept. 18-20. No matter if they only stepped on the track briefly, not at all, or if they are a seasoned warhorse, there is a great life to be lived after racing for our Standardbreds.
