So Amazing holds on to win at Vernon

Vernon, NY — So Amazing (Steeven Genois) captured the $6,500 featured fillies & mares’ pace on Friday (September 8).

So Amazing ($5.40) was first to the quarter in :27.0.  Anytime N (John MacDonald) battled for the lead going down the backstretch.  So Amazing led to the half in :55.3.  She broke free and was first to three-quarters in 1:23.2.

As they reached the stretch Unusual Clarity (Ron Harp) went to the outside and Lorrie Sue (Frank Affrunti) slipped though the inside making three across track.  So Amazing dug in and won in 1:52.4.  Unusual Clarity was second.  Lorrie Sue was third best.

So Amazing Is a 5-year-old mare by So Surreal.  She is trained by Michelle Warner for owners Big Sky Ranch and Rita Scharman.  It was her third win this season.  She now owns 17 career victories.

John MacDonald leads all drivers with 75 wins.  Barton Dalious is in second with 65 tallies.  Frank Affrunti and Steeven Genois (three wins on the card) are tied for third with 39 victories each.  Jimmy Whittemore with 36 wins is fifth.

Michelle Warner leads all trainers with 37 wins.  Jeff Sorenson is second with 26 trips to the winner’s circle.  David Dewhurst (23), Gary Gibson (21) and Claude Huckabone III round out the top five.

Live racing returns to Vernon Downs on Saturday (September 9) with a 10-race card starting at 6:05 p.m.
