Solomon, Sheridan and Beltrami score victories in MADC Friday night at the Big M

East Rutherford, NJ – With very good track conditions for the Friday night card, all three MADC races once again were exciting, but also featured a non-betting favorite winning in the end.

This continues to be the trend as we head into Derby Day. Being on or near the lead for all three events was the place to be to win this week.

The first race had some early action but after the post-time favorite Marvalous One (Joe Lee) got to the front end, the race seemed to be his to lose. With Cloudbreak (William Clark Jr.) hung on the outside, Lee set sensible fractions and kicked for home still in command. That is when pocket sitter Heartlandbanysbro (Jim King Solomon) tipped out of the pocket and was able to wear down the long-time leader to win by a hard fought neck. Lee was second while Final Justice (Tony Beltrami) garnered the show dough. The mile went in 1:54.1. Solomon also trains this 8-year old gelding for owner Timothy Crudup, who resides in New Jersey.

In the fifth race, there was an early give and go with Dandy Idea (Newton “Yogi” Sheridan) and Thndrfrmthethron N (Neil Glasser), who took command and led the field as the field entered the stretch. He was collared at that juncture by Rockabilly Charm (Tony Beltrami), who took the lead down the lane but a patient Sheridan pulled off the cones and off of Beltrami to collar him in the shadow of the wire to gain the victory by three-quarters of a length.

Beltrami wound up second and Stolen Art (William Clark Jr.) skimmed the cones to pick up the show dough. This mile was timed in 1:55.1. Sheridan trains and co-owns this 7-year old mare along with Mykashemydiamonmyariel, who both reside in New Jersey.

In the ninth race on the card, it was a revved up Sand Sniper (Tony Beltrami) who left hard from his inside post but was able to get away with a soft first quarter (:28.2) and half mile (:57.3) time, which paid off as he was able to hold off all the closers to win by a length. Post-time favorite Robbie Burns N (Bryan Quevedo) closed for second while Skyway Billy (Anthony Verruso) rounded out the trifecta. The winner tripped the beam in 1:54.4. Paul Roy trains the 8-year old gelding for owner Alessandro Spano out of Florida.

The MADC will be back Saturday night (May 4) for two races with the first post scheduled for 6:20 p.m.
