Accelerating out of post six, Somemore Blue bounced out of the gate setting the tone immediately fighting off any challengers for an early lead at the quarter in :26.0. Leading the seven-horse field single file, Somemore Blue tapped the brakes on the backstretch with Klorox Queen (Trace Tetrick), Treacherous Woman (Kyle Wilfong) and Whoomp (John De Long) lined up behind the pacesetter.
With the field growing closer at the halfway mark in :55.1, Somemore Blue stayed on the gas pedal while the field remained unchanged. Electing to be first over, Whoomp slid to the outside, closing in on the leader. At the three-quarters in 1:22.4, Somemore Blue started to build the gap as the setting sunlight grew between the pacers as Klorox Queen and a charging Whoomp followed.
Not giving them a chance down the stretch in :26.1, Somemore Blue found another gear churning away to slam the wire in 1:49.0 for a lifetime mark winning with a motionless Miller in the bike to cruise by 3-3/4 lengths. Whoomp settled for second, while Treacherous Woman rallied back for third, 8-1/2 lengths back of the winner.
