Southwind Amazon to again try to equal Rambling Willie at Northville

Northville, MI — This coming Saturday (Aug. 19), at Northville Downs, Southwind Amazon will seek to earn his 128th career win, which would put the 13-year-old son of Camluck into a tie with Rambling Willie as the second winningest Standardbred of all time.

Starting from post position six in an eight-horse field, Southwind Amazon will attempt to earn the victory in an effort to work towards taking over the top spot on the list, which is currently held by Niffit, with 137 wins.

Having something to say in the matter on Saturday will be seven rivals, including 2022 Michigan Older Pacer of the Year Lying In Cash (post five); Last Bet (post eight), a back-to-back winner in the Open 1 Pace at Northville; as well as Lyons Friends (post one), Magic Shark (post two), Diesel Accelerator (post three), Gabe The Babe (post four) and Ticks A Yankin (post seven), all of whom have competed with much success at the Open level this year.

Southwind Amazon currently boasts a lifetime record of 127 wins in 350 starts, lifetime earnings of $1,447,977, and a mark of 1:48.3f, which he took at age 10.

Live harness racing at Northville Downs takes place every Friday and Saturday through Sept. 30; nightly first post is 7 p.m. For clubhouse dining reservations, call 248.924.2073.
